Maryland's Governor proposed reducing the estate tax exemption from $5 million to $2 million per individual and from $10 million to $4 million per married couple. This was not adopted and the thresholds will remain the same. The inheritance tax will also remain at the current level. However, the legislature could revisit the issue next fiscal year.
